Welcome to my personal website!

I am an Assistant Professor of Criminology & Criminal Justice at Marshall University.  This spring I am teaching Introduction to Corrections, Miscarriadges of Justice, and Introduction to Criminal Justice.  In the past, I have taught Drugs & Crime, Crime & Pop Culture, a media and crime course, Graduate Research Methods, and Victims of Crime.

Previously, I was an Assistant Professor at Washburn University in Topeka, KS.  At Washburn University, I taught Crime & Justice in America, Juvenile Justice, Introduction to Corrections and Introduction to Law Enforcement.

My Ph.D comes from Old Dominion University, in Norfolk VA.  While teaching at ODU I taught several courses, including Social Research, Introduction to Criminology, Crime, Society and the Media, Social Problems, and Victimology.  I have also traveled internationally to Croatia to present research and take a course on victimology and I reguraly attend yearly conferences all across the US.My Master's degree came from UNC Fayetteville State University, located in my hometown, Fayetteville, NC.

I'm originally from NC and I am an army brat.  My research interests are in how the Department of Verteran's Affairs treats our veterans for this reason.  I am also currently working on several projects to explore accessibility within intimate partner violence shelters and how shelters use social media.  My favorite project at the moment examines cryptocurrency as an extention of late capitalism and explores how virtual pets and gamifying these transactions contribues to a compression of time (thus expanding capitalism). Along with this project, I am setting up a survey to ask video game players about their opinions on loot boxes and microtransactions.

In my free time I love spending time with my husband and our pets (2 cats,1 dog) and have been known to play an occasional video game or three.

If you would like to know more about my interests or myself in general, use the contact page and send me an e-mail!  I'm happy to answer any questions or provide additional information.
